holistic learning

Plan Details

Mother’s Day is a special occasion celebrated to appreciate mothers for their endless love and care. It is celebrated on the second Sunday of May in many countries, including India. The tradition began in the United States in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother, later leading to it becoming an official holiday in 1914. Mother’s Day is significant as it reminds us to express gratitude and affection towards our mothers. It aims to celebrate motherhood, recognise their vital role in families and society and make them feel truly valued.

The Mother's Day celebration is a tribute to the guiding lights of our lives — our mothers. The theme for the celebration, "Mothers: The Shining Stars of Our Lives," (Duration: 90 minutes) reflects the constant presence, strength, and warmth that mothers provide, much like stars that light up even the darkest skies. This programme is designed not just to honour mothers for their love and dedication, but also to help children recognise and appreciate the immeasurable value of a mother’s role in shaping their world.

The aim of this celebration is to create moments where children pause to express admiration for their mothers through joyous performances. This event is a reminder that a mother’s contribution is priceless. She is indeed the shining star — constant, radiant, and inspiring.

In this program, we have put together the principal’s speech, the compere’s speech and the entire cultural program flow, consisting of various interesting activities. Along with the main manual, all the other required resources are given.

Note - This Mother’s Day celebration plan is designed for students from Class 1 to 12. Schools can choose to include all classes or only a few selected ones from Class 1 to 12. Once the classes are decided, all students and their mothers from those classes should be invited to attend the event. Participants for different performances and activities should also be chosen from these selected grades only.

(Please Note: Since Mother’s Day falls on a Sunday, the celebration can be conducted on the next day [Monday] or on any one of the days in the week from Monday to Friday.)
