Peer Pressure (Grade 6 to 12)

holistic learning

Plan Details

After 11 years of age, peer pressure prevails among students. It is generally felt that as the students will grow up, they will deal with it, but practically, it does not go away with time and not all students have the courage and wit to deal with it, hence this cannot be ignored.

In fact, with the passing time, it starts having negative impact on students, such as:
• Weird behaviour
• Feeling low and hopeless
• Sleeplessness or over sleep
• Loss of appetite or over-eating
• Losing interest in studies
• Anti-social behaviour and aggression
• Getting involved in doing risky things or breaking rules
• Getting into smoking, consumption of alcohol/drugs

Peer pressure is the mental pressure the students feel to do things told to do by friends which they may not do otherwise. They do it because they want to be accepted by friends, scared to lose their friendship and have fear of rejection or getting bullied.

Through the activities of the workshop, the students will understand peer pressure and its types, identify true friends, learn consequences of surrendering to negative peer pressure, develop assertiveness skills and learn different positive styles to resist negative peer pressure.

The workshop is appropriate for the age group: 11 to 17 years, i.e. from Class 6 to 12. The school/ educational institute can decide to conduct it for any one or more grades from Class 6 to 12.

This plan provides detailed guidelines to the trainer/ teacher who will conduct the workshop. All the necessary resources such as video/ PPT/ display resource/ handouts/ worksheets/ Parents’ Circular etc required to conduct the activities are attached with the plan. The plan is available in soft copy format (only).
