According to the Hindu calendar, Dussehra also called Vijayadashmi is celebrated in the Ashvina month.

The assembly is based on highlighting the significance of the Dussehra festival. Through an interesting drama ‘In the Sage Valmiki’s Ashram’, the students will learn more about Ravana, his life, character and qualities. The drama will provide a deep insight to the students about the undiscovered side of Ravana, an efficient ruler, a great musician and singer, a learned scholar, a true devotee of Lord Shiva, a skillful and intelligent person, one who mastered the Shashtras and Vedas, composed the Shiv Tandav Strotram, who lifted Mountain Kailash, who contributed a lot to the field of Ayurveda, such an undisputed and incredible persona with super natural powers, but yet the most cruel and deadly demon, full of pride, anger and jealousy. The students will understand the true essence of the Dussehra festival, that bad qualities eventually leads to the devastation of the person. Ravana was killed by his own ego and pride. The students will also enjoy the dance performance which adds joy and fervor to the Dussehra celebration.

This plan can be used by schools of any country. The schools can conduct it for a grade / few grades/ all the grades from Class 1 to 10.

The plan has a main manual illustrating the flow of the event along with the description of the scripts/ performances/ activities in detail and also includes all the necessary resources for the assembly. Activities involving videos, PPTs are not taken for this assembly as a projector facility may not be available in many school grounds.
