26 August, birthday of a great and inspirational personality - Mother Teresa,is celebrated every year globallyto commemorate her character and good deeds.
Mother Teresa, an Albanian Catholic nun who adopted Indian citizenship, started the Missionaries of Charity in 1950 with 12 members, she served the poor, the unwanted, the abandoned, sick, retarded, orphaned and the unloved. When she passed away in 1997, Missionaries of Charity had over 4,000 members with over 610 foundations in 123 countries.
The assembly depicts her life journey. The purpose of the assembly is to inculcate noble qualities and values in the students through her character. The drama ‘Peace begins with a smile’ shows a glimpse of a brave hearted woman who had a very strong will power and at the same time a tender hearted woman who had unending love and compassion for the sick and the poor. Her strong faith in God and undying dedication to serve the less fortunate people is truly commendable. Her character shows that the only cure to hatred, loneliness, despair and hopelessness is love. The most terrible poverty in the world is loneliness and the feeling of being unloved. The incredible path which led Mother Teresa to sainthood is highlighted in the assembly.
