Guru Nanak Jayanti, also called Guru Nanak Gurpurab and Guru Nanak's Prakash Utsav is the birthday of Guru Nanak Sahib which falls on the full moon day of Kartik month, according to the Hindu calendar.
Through an interesting drama ‘The Great Guru Nanak Dev Ji’, the students will learn about the main pillars of Sikhism such as ‘Vaand Chhako’ and ‘Kirat Karo’. Through real life events, the students will deeply understand some of the main teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, i.e. to help the needy and share with the community. He preached that one must use a portion of his wealth for the society, it encourages the feelings of brotherhood, charity and humanity in the society. Also, he preached that to earn a livelihood, one must work hard, with honesty and never cheat anyone. The moral lessons that the students will learn from the assembly will be useful for them to live a better life. Through the assembly, the students will learn social skills and honesty. The students will learn the importance of charity, empathy, kindness, care and affection for the fellow human beings.
This plan can be used by schools of any country. The schools can conduct it for a grade / few grades/ all the grades from Class 1 to 10.
The plan has a main manual illustrating the flow of the event along with the description of the scripts/ performances/ activities in detail and also includes all the necessary resources for the assembly. Activities involving videos, PPTs are not taken for this assembly as a projector facility may not be available in many school grounds.
