World Penguin Day (25 April)

holistic learning

Plan Details

Observed all over the world on 25th April, World Penguin Day recognizes one of the unique birds on the planet ‘Penguins’, which have significantly declined due to global warming.

The theme of the assembly is ‘The Penguins in Dilemma’. The assembly , aims to provide a deep insight about the problems which the penguins are facing due to human exploration activities. Oil expulsions in sea, hunting animals, fishing and other activities such as pollution and deforestation across the globe is leading to global warming and climate change which is melting the ice in the Antarctic region due to which penguins are losing their habitat. The increase in temperature is making their survival difficult. Krill, on which penguins feed, breeds in ice and due to diminishing ice, the breeding of krill has decreased, leading to scarcity of food for penguins. Poorly fed penguins are most vulnerable to diseases and death. There are so many issues with migration too.

Through the drama and other activities, the students will know about the adverse effects of global warming and also understand that they must keep a watch on their day to day activities and not pollute the environment and not cut trees which eventually lead to global warming.

This plan can be used by schools of any country. The schools can conduct it for a grade or few grades from Class 1 to 10.
