World Cancer Day is a global observance day celebrated on February 4 to raise awareness about cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.  Several events and campaigns are held across to world to support the cause.

As part of the initiative, we are presenting a 20 - 25 minute assembly plan for the day. A theme based drama - ‘It’s all about the fight, not the fright’ shows the social and psychological impact of the disease on cancer patients, their family members and cancer survivors and also removes the wrong myths which people have in their minds about the disease.

The aim of the assembly is to highlight the brave battles of the cancer patients against the disease without getting disheartened and losing hope. It gives an inspirational message of fighting like a hero, facing all the storms and still living a quality life. It covers different aspects such as well-known world personalities who are cancer survivors, counseling of cancer patients and their family members, special works of hospitals for cancer, special initiatives of NGOs, advances of medical science and technology to cure and fight the disease, inspirational slogans and also the lesser known cancer facts. ‘Surviving cancer is not the end of a gruesome story but the beginning of a beautiful one’. 

The assembly also ignites empathy and affection in students for cancer patients and makes them realize that the patients need our love, care and support.

This plan can be used by schools of any country. The schools can conduct it for a grade or few grades from Class 1 to 10.

The plan has a main manual illustrating the flow of the event along with the description of the scripts/ performances/ activities in detail and also includes all the necessary resources for the assembly. Activities involving videos, PPTs are not taken for this assembly as a projector facility may not be available in many school grounds.(Plan available in soft copy format only.)
