holistic learning

Plan Details

We have brought a 20 – 25 minute assembly plan, made by beautifully intermingling two important events – World Radio Day and birthday of the Nightingale of India, Dr. Sarojini Naidu.

UNESCO has observed 13 February as World Radio Day since it is the anniversary of United Nations Radio, established in 1946.

Students in today’s generation feel that radio is outdated but through this assembly they will learn that radio is the mass medium reaching the widest audience in the world, specifically suited to reach remote communities offering a huge platform to intervene in the public debate. Radio has also adapted to the new technological forms of today’s age.

Students will also seek knowledge about the Nightingale of India, Sarojini Naidu and her role in the Indian freedom struggle through a unique show ‘Sarojini and Me’.

Sarojini Naidu, born on 13 February 1879 in Hyderabad, was a famous Indian poet and a major freedom fighter and the first Indian woman to be appointed as the president of the Indian National Congress. Naidu was given the title - Bharat Kokila (The Nightingale of India) on account of her beautiful poems and songs.

This plan can be used by schools of any country. The schools can conduct it for a grade or few grades or all grades from Class 1 to 10.

The plan has a main manual illustrating the flow of the event along with the description of the scripts/ performances/ activities in detail and also includes all the necessary resources for the assembly. Activities involving videos, PPTs are not taken for this assembly as a projector facility may not be available in many school grounds.
