World Kindness Day is observed on 13 November every year since 1998 in many countries like Canada, Japan, Australia, Nigeria and United Arab Emirates.
Kindness is a feel-good emotion. Kindness has several emotional and social benefits for the students. It is necessary to inculcate kindness in children from a very young age. The benefits of inculcating kindness are:
- It enriches pride, self-worth and optimistic attitude in students.
- Students experience a boost in peer acceptance.
- Students will be less stressful and have better health.
- It will boost feelings of gratitude in students.
- It will lead to reduced depression and also lessen bullying in schools.
- Students become happy and caring. It will curb destructive feelings and negative emotions towards others.
- Kindness makes students feel more respected and have improved self-esteem.
The virtues of kindness are innumerable. When students help others less fortunate than themselves, it provides them with a true sense of perspective, highlighting their own good fortune. Being generous helps them appreciate what they have, makes them feel useful, and boosts empathy.
We have brought a 20 – 25 minute World Kindness Day assembly plan based on making the students understand the importance of kindness. This plan can be used by schools of any country.
The distribution of roles in the performances/ activities to the students depends on the sole discretion of the school management. Also, the schools can conduct it for a few grades or all the grades from Class 1 to 10.
The plan has a main manual illustrating the flow of the event along with the description of the scripts/ performances/ activities in detail and also includes all the necessary resources for the assembly. Activities involving videos, PPTs are not taken for this assembly as a projector facility may not be available in many school grounds.
