Workshop Plan for World Oceans Day (8 June)

holistic learning

Plan Details

8th June is observed as World Oceans Day to understand the role of oceans in our lives and adverse impact of human actions on the oceans.

Plastic pollution is causing tremendous harm. 80% of all pollution in the ocean comes from litter from land.  Every year, the mass of plastic debris in the world’s oceans is steadily increasing – often with fatal consequences for countless sea creatures.

In both urban and rural areas, these items sometimes are dumped directly into a water body or wetland, or deposited along riverbanks or lake shores. If we recycle garbage and if we don't litter, then the oceans will be cleaner.  Children knowingly or unknowingly litter around by throwing food wrappers, bottles, tins etc.

Presenting to you a 60- minute workshop plan for World Ocean Day (8 June) based on - ‘Do not Litter’. A series of activities will make students understand more about litter and its ill effects. The students will realize the importance of using paper instead of plastic. The students will know which all places plastic waste travels, causing damage to land creatures as well as marine life.

The workshop is appropriate for age group: 6 to 10 years, i.e. from Class 1 to 5. The school/ educational institute can decide to conduct it for any one or more grades from Class 1 to 5.

This plan provides detailed guidelines to the trainer/ teacher who will conduct the workshop. All the necessary resources such as video/ PPT/ display resource/ handouts/ worksheets/ Parents’ Circular etc required to conduct the activities are given with the plan. The plan is available in soft copy (only).
