Workshop Plan for International Friendship Day (4 August 2024)

holistic learning

Plan Details

International Friendship Day, celebrated on 1st Sunday of August, is a day that promotes the role played by friendship in promoting peace and building strong relationships.

Empathy is the ability to understand how someone else is feeling. Showing empathy is one of the most important traits in building and maintaining relationships. A firm grasp on empathy empowers students with a more meaningful bond, coping skills, communication strategies, good listening skills, more understanding power, overcome pain and challenges and inculcate respect and gratitude. Empathy leads to lesser conflicts and more of problem solving in friendship. Empathy paves the way to children’s friendship skills.

To nourish friendships with empathy, celebrate International Friendship Day differently by conducting a 60- minute Workshop – ‘An Empathetic friend is a true friend.’

The workshop is appropriate for age group: 6 to 10 years, i.e. from Class 1 to 5. The school/ educational institute can decide to conduct it for any one or more grades from Class 1 to 5.

This plan provides detailed guidelines to the trainer/ teacher who will conduct the workshop. All the necessary resources such as video/ PPT/ display resource/ handouts/ worksheets/ Parents’ Circular etc required to conduct the activities are given with the plan. The plan is available in soft copy (only).

Note: Since International Friendship Day falls on first Sunday of August, the school can conduct the workshop before or after 1st Sunday of August or any other closer date feasible.
